At this year’s Junior Achievement of New York Gala, Scott Gerber, CEO of The Community Company, was honored with the Young Innovator of the Year for his dedication to supporting future business leaders and JA’s mission.

“Every successful person stands on the shoulders of giants,” Scott said. “And there is no greater gift we can give or receive than to be that strong set of shoulders that someone else can stand on.”

Over 350 business leaders and professionals gathered to celebrate the evening’s honorees and to raise funds to support the delivery of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and work readiness programs to over 90,000 K-12 students in New York CityLong Island, and Lower Hudson Valley. The event raised $700,000 to support JA programs across 300 schools.

Also honored was Rodney O. Martin, Jr., chairman and CEO of Voya Financial, who received the 2018 Leadership Award for his dedication to Junior Achievement of New York. Lastly, Josue Quintero, a senior at Brooklyn Preparatory High School, received the $10,000 Manuel H. and Claire Barron Student of the Year Scholarship to support his college dreams at the Gala at Gotham Hall. At the gala, Josue stated, “Because of JA, I am able to stand in front of you this evening and confidently say I am on my way to a successful life after high school.”
